We machine complete barrel sections and replacement liners for co-rotating twin-screw extruders, and we re-bore worn barrels back to OEM tolerance.

The barrel sets the working life of the whole extruder. Each section is machined from a single billet, the figure-8 bore is cut on a CNC boring mill and then honed. Centre distance, roundness and surface finish are checked against the OEM drawing before the section is released.
Three liner technologies cover most duty. Nitrided barrels suit unfilled and lightly filled compounds. Bi-metallic centrifugally cast liners handle glass-fibre reinforced material. HIP-clad liners, where a wear-resistant alloy is diffusion-bonded to the steel, give the longest life in highly abrasive or corrosive service.
A worn barrel does not have to be scrapped. We re-bore the figure-8 to the next oversize, hone it, and either fit new liners or restore the bore with a weld overlay. The result is a barrel back inside OEM tolerance at a fraction of the price of a new one.
Food and feed extrusion puts different demands on the barrel: polished or plated bores for cleanability, food-compatible materials and no dead spots where product can accumulate. We machine barrel sections for food-extruder platforms such as Andritz, with bore finishes and steel grades matched to the application.
Petrochemical polymerization and compounding lines run large-diameter twin-screw extruders, from 300 mm screw diameter upward. These barrels need heavy flanges, multiple process ports and often bi-metallic or HIP-clad liners to survive abrasive filler systems. We machine and refurbish them in our Nanjing workshop.
In plastics compounding the barrel sees filled compounds, glass fibre and masterbatch every day. Wear-resistant liners, correct centre distance and efficient heat transfer decide uptime. We supply nitrided, bi-metallic and Ni60 hard-faced liners to match the duty, and re-bore worn barrels back to OEM tolerance.
Measure the bore at several points along its length. If wear is under roughly 0.5 mm on diameter and there is no cracking at the bore intersection, refurbishment is usually viable. Send us the measurements and photographs and we will confirm.
Yes. Send the old barrel or a dimensional sketch with centre distance, bore diameter and bolt pattern, and we will reverse-engineer it.
Standard machines built in China — Giant, Jieya, Chuangbo, Chengmeng, Meizhilong, Jinwei, Useon and Kerke — are normally held in stock and can ship immediately. For imported-machine barrels (Coperion, KraussMaffei Berstorff, Leistritz, JSW, Shibaura) allow 30-45 days once material is available and drawings are confirmed, plus transit. For a planned shutdown we recommend ordering one spare section ahead of time.
Email a photo, a drawing or the OEM part number and we will come back with a quotation.
